Margo was appointed to fill the unexpired term of Bill Cecil after he was elected Mayor in 2005. She was unopposed during the 2006-2007 election. In 2008, she was reelected for another two year term. At this time she is running for reelection for her third and final term. Before being appointed to the Council, Margo was a member of the city’s Building and Standards Commission.
Since her appointment, Margo has actively served on several Council committees including the Land Use subcommittee, the Customer Centered Government subcommittee, Lake Rockwall Estates annexation planning task force, The Shores Golf Course committee and the Hotel Motel Tax subcommittee .
Margo has been the Executive Director of Rockwall County Helping Hands since 1989. She has directed the agency’s development from a 1,500 square foot store front to a four building complex on more than ten acres with an annual budget of $1.8 million. The agency provides financial assistance and health care to more than 10,000 County residents every year.
Margo is an honorary member of the Rockwall Rotary Club and has received the Jean Harris Award and is a Paul Harris Fellow. She serves in advisory capacities to the Rockwall Agricultural Extension Service, Rockwall MusicFest and is a member of the Board of Directors for Rockwall PAWS.
Margo received the Soroptimist Women of Distinction award and reigned as Queen of the Mardi Gras Ball for Hubbard Chamber Music Series. She was appointed by the Rockwall County Judge to the Dallas Extended Metropolitan Area Health Services Planning Council and the North Central Texas Workforce Development Board. She was a charter member of Rockwall Area Habitat for Humanity and Lone Star CASA, was president of the Lone Star chapter of National Charity League, president of the Rockwall Housing Development Corporation, president of the Shores Ladies Golf Association, served nine years as a commissioner on the Rockwall Housing Authority and six years on the Rockwall Child Protective Services Board.
Before moving to Rockwall in 1985, Margo and her late husband Roger, lived in San Antonio where she provided guardianship services to elderly and disabled. She was a social worker in the State of Florida for twelve years before moving to Texas.
Margo was reared in Belle Glade, Florida, is a graduate of Rosarian Academy in West Palm Beach, Florida and Dunbarton College of Holy Cross (now closed) in Washington D.C. Margo and her husband, Roger, were married for 38 years, until his death in May, 2009. Their daughter Jennifer also lives in Rockwall with her husband, John and son, Jack. Margo is a lifelong member of the Episcopal church.
